Want to become Catholic?
We will support you in your journey of faith!
Do you ever ask yourself….
What am I looking for in life?
How can I be a better person?
How can I come to know God’s love?
How can I know the right path God has in store for me?
Or perhaps you ask…
What is the Catholic Church all about?
What do Catholics really believe?
Might becoming Catholic be something for me?
What are you looking for…
If you ever ask these questions, or questions like them, look at life as a Catholic. For 2,000 years, people have turned to the Church to find answers to the deepest questions of life.

First steps on a journey…
If you want to know more, you are always welcome to come to any Mass, prayer group session, or any other public event at St. Joseph’s (check out the newsletter or parish calendar for events). The next steps on the journey…
New members, whether children or adults, are brought into the Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Communion. These sacraments are often called “the sacraments of initiation” because through these sacred prayers, individuals are initiated into the People of God.
Children over the age of 8 who have been baptised can sign up for our sacramental program that prepares them to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation and Holy Communion. If your child is not baptised and you would like them to be, please contact our parish office to make an appointment to see the Parish Priest.
Adults prepare for these sacraments through the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults - OCIA (formerly known as Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults - RCIA).
About OCIA
The OCIA program is a process designed for adults interested in becoming Catholic and also for adults who would like to complete the sacraments of initiation. This process can begin at any time of the year. Wherever one is on their faith journey, OCIA will meet them.
The OCIA is modeled after the Catechumenate of the early Church when adults who sought entry into the Church went through various periods of growth and formation. Our Catechumens meet regularly for prayer, faith sharing and study of Catholic beliefs. A person may continue to participate in these sessions a long as he or she wishes. Then at the Easter Vigil Mass each year, new members are brought into full membership of the Catholic Church through the holy sacraments.
