Our Health and Safety Ministry helps ensure that St. Joseph’s Parish is a safe and welcoming place for everyone. The team works behind the scenes to identify and manage potential risks, maintain compliance with safety standards, and promote wellbeing during parish activities and events. Their mission is to care for our people and property so that all can worship and gather in confidence and peace.

Health & Safety Ministry

Safeguarding & Police Vetting

At St. Joseph’s Parish, we are committed to creating a safe environment for everyone - especially children, young people, and vulnerable adults. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we take it seriously by following the policies and guidelines of the Catholic Diocese of Palmerston North.

All parish volunteers and ministry leaders who work with children, youth, or vulnerable adults are required to complete police vetting and safeguarding training. These steps help ensure that our parish remains a place of trust, respect, and care, where all feel protected and valued.

First Aid

Our First Aid team helps ensure that immediate care is available whenever it’s needed at parish events, gatherings, or liturgies. Trained first aiders are on hand to respond quickly and calmly in case of illness or injury, providing support until professional help arrives if necessary. The team also keeps first aid supplies up to date and accessible throughout the parish facilities, helping to maintain a safe and caring environment for all.
