SYNOD ON SYNODALITY
Parishes and dioceses around the country took part in the local phase of Pope Francis's synodal path to the Church’s future, culminating in an Assembly of the Synod of Bishops in Rome in October next year. The NZ bishops have just published the National Synod synthesis document that emerged from the diocesan phase of the process and the national hui held in Wellington in June. The national document has been sent to Rome as one of the many such documents from around the Catholic world as part of the Synod process.
A copy of the National Synod document is attached. The document, a summary of its contents, and an outline of the Synod process are online here: https://www.catholic.org.nz/news/media-releases/nz-synod-synthesis/

We look forward to working with you all on Saturday at our Archdiocesan Synod Gathering! This is just a reminder that we will be gathering at 9:45am outside Our Lady of Kapiti Church in Paraparaumu, for a 10am start.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided. In order to keep everyone safe and at ease, masks are to be worn during the sessions.
We will be taking time to listen, pray and discern together in small groups, using the discernment process based on spiritual conversation. The following is a reminder of this very simple, prayerful process. Groups will be facilitated.
What is the Spirit of God saying to us in the emerging themes?
What might we be missing?
SILENT REFLECTION
A few minutes of silence to gather the fruits of our reflection.
FIRST ROUND
Each person takes a turn to share briefly.
The rest of the group listens without interruption.
A short pause is allowed between each person.
SILENT REFLECTION
A short pause to reflect on what we have heard that has moved us.
SECOND ROUND
Everyone takes a turn to share a word or a phrase that SOMEONE ELSE HAS SHARED which has moved them.
THIRD ROUND
After a final time of reflection, the group looks at what are the common threads of the sharing in response to the two questions. A scribe will take notes of each round.
We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday!
Blessings

POPE FRANCIS WANTS TO HEAR FROM YOU - DIRECTLY!

The bishops are using this direct papal message to invite people – Catholic or not – to take part in a survey for the ongoing international synod on the future direction of the Church. The survey is being advertised on Stuff and in social media such as Facebook, so you might see it pop up. Please share it with friends who may not be reached by your parish/diocesan Synod consultation.
